The Dufour 500GL was the first in a very unique interior layout that Dufour has continued to incorporate into their subsequent models. The galley is place athwartship on the forward bulkhead moving the main salon and living area back into the widest part of the boat. This makes this 50-footer feel like a much larger boat. The Dufour 500 has a 3-cabin/3-head layout along with a convertible dinette and U-shaped settee giving comfortable sleeping space for nine adults when needed. The beam on the Dufour 500 is carried well aft like in many production sailboat designs being built now. This couple with a dual helm layout and fold-down swim platform makes for an incredibly roomy cockpit. Main and jib sheets are all left aft to primary winches within reach of the helmsperson which makes the Dufour 500 a simple boat to single or shorthand. "Hopscotch" is loaded with options including generator, air conditioning & reverse-cycle heat, a full summer galley in the cockpit including sink, refrigerator and a grill, dodger & bimini with a full enclosure for inclement weather, electric winches throughout, roller furling main and jib and retractable bow & stern thrusters for easy maneuvering around the dock. She is a one-owner boat that has been kept in southern New England, stored on the hard under shrinkwrap for the winter and professionally maintained by one of the premier boatyards locally.
